Library Volunteer

With more than 45 years of her life devoted to studying chimpanzees and spreading her messages of conservation and hope to millions around the world, Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE has amassed an enormous amount of books and audio/visual materials from around the world. Here at the Jane Goodall Institute, we are in the process of cataloguing these resources for a potential future Jane Goodall Library and Museum. And we need your help!

Description of volunteer opportunity:
We are seeking a volunteer with experience in information management or library science to help us create and implement a private library for Dr. Goodall’s personal books and audio/visual materials. Our goal is to achieve seamless integration of our electronic and physical records of these resources, and to make them more accessible to the Jane Goodall Institute staff in a private library. The books are being catalogued using the Library of Congress system.

This is a very exciting opportunity for you to get involved and help us create a “physical history” of Dr. Goodall and her work, and the efforts of so many people around the world who share our mission.  

Time commitment:
Weekdays with flexible hours

Communications Volunteer

The Communications Department is seeking volunteers to assist with day-to-day activities and special projects in the Arlington, Virginia office.

Volunteers are needed anytime Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Knowledge of PC environment helpful.

Archiving Volunteer

Here at the Jane Goodall Institute, we are in the process of preserving and archiving all of these artifacts for a potential future Jane Goodall Library and Museum. And we need your help!

Description of volunteer opportunity:
We are seeking a volunteer with experience in archiving and artwork preservation  to help us complete and maintain the archives for Dr. Goodall’s personal gifts and artifacts. Our goal is to achieve seamless integration of our electronic and physical records of these archives, and to appropriately prepare those items for storage or display.

This is a very exciting opportunity for you to help us create a “physical history” of Dr. Goodall and her work in order to help ensure that her message is accessible to the public for generations to come.
