Chief of Party, Tanzania

The Jane Goodall Institute is currently recruiting for a Chief of Party (COP) for a proposed USAID grant in Kigoma, Tanzania focused on strengthening the landscape-scale conservation in the western geographical landscape of Tanzania.

The successful candidate must be a senior-level professional with a proven track record of successfully designing, implementing and managing USAID-funded conservation projects in geographical locations similar to western Tanzania.

Monitoring & Evaluation Junior Officer, Tanzania

The Jane Goodall Institute is currently recruiting for a Monitoring & Evaluation Junior Officer for a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) grant in Kigoma, Tanzania, focused on strengthening landscape-scale conservation in the western geographical landscape of Tanzania.

The Monitoring & Evaluation Junior Officer will be a member of the JGI Tanzania who will provide technical expertise in: general Program monitoring, reporting on indicators for measuring Program overall performance and recording progress towards set goals/objectives. He/she will also play an integral role in implementing and updating Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) plans. The role will be responsible for data collection, verification and reporting. He/she will support the implementation of the adaptive management best practices and work closely with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to guide Project team through the process of learning from and making programmatic decisions based on the results of monitoring and evaluation data.

Assistant Manager, Education and Nature Reserves Program - Republic of the Congo

Reporting directly to the JGI Congo Executive Director, the Assistant Manager Education and Nature Reserve Programs (ENRP) will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of JGI’s Education and Awareness and Law Enforcement activities in the Tchimpounga Nature Reserve, Conkouati Douli National Park and elsewhere as required.

Consultant, Behavior Change Campaign - North Kivu and Maniema Provinces, DRC

JGI is currently seeking proposals from consultants to manage the development of a campaign the organization would like to create and pilot focused on stakeholders in the commercial bushmeat trade in the Eastern DRC.

The ideal candidate (individual or agency) will have a strong background in Behavior Change/Social Marketing campaigns, and experience working with rural populations in Africa and will have experience working in multi-cultural teams, and be available to visit our programs in the Eastern DRC.

United States Opportunities

Request for Proposals – Roots & Shoots Marketing Website

The Jane Goodall Institute is currently seeking a vendor or consortium of vendors who can support the development of a front-end marketing site for the Jane Goodall Institute’s international youth program, Roots & Shoots. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall, Roots & Shoots is a youth service program for young people of all ages. The aim of Roots & Shoots is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire everyone to take action to make the world a better place for people, other animals, and the environment.

Under a grant-funded initiative, the Institute is currently in the process of relaunching our digital engagement platform for young people with a focus on increasing inclusivity and diversity within the program. Paired with the launch of a new interim message platform for the program, the new marketing website should serve as a central hub for information and initial engagement as our youth audiences are getting started with the Roots & Shoots program.

Grant Manager, Finance

The Grants Manager provides leadership to the grants function and integrates its work with the other departments of JGI and all field locations, ultimately resulting in the continued funding and successful operation of the organization. The Grants Manager monitors the contracts and grants management operations to ensure the high quality of contracts and grants administration and compliance with legal and donor requirements across programs. This role will be responsible for leading and managing effective and efficient operations in the areas of procurement, solicitation, budget preparation, contracting, and award administration (grants, cooperative agreements and contracts) to include financial monitoring. The Grants Manager will serve as the main point of contact between JGI and client contract/grants officials and review and approve contracts and grants documents.

Staff Accountant, Finance

Entry level position to work in the finance department.  The Staff Accountant role is to support the accounting function in the HQ office.  He/She is specifically responsible for assisting and supporting the reconciliation of accounts.  Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; verifying data.  Assist with automation of the accounting process moving to a paperless environment.  Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.  Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.  Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
