The Jane Goodall Institute Africa Programs:


The goal of JGI’s Africa programs is to ensure the long-term protection of wild ape populations and their habitat in natural host countries in Africa, while preserving biodiversity, cultural traditions and livelihoods.

 

 

This target may be reached through research and training, capacity building, community development, and cooperative Community-Centered Conservation (CCC) measures designed to reduce trading of endangered species as bushmeat or pets, while preserving forest habitats and cultural livelihoods.

JGI scientist Dr. Lilian Pintea shares expertise at global event
3/19/2009 — JGI’s Lilian Pintea recently traveled to India to attend a global sharing of information and expertise about the role of geospatial science in developing a sustainable planet.

US Fish and Wildlife Service funds chimpanzee conservation planning in Tanzania
3/19/2009 — In a partnership partly funded by the US government, JGI will partner with the Tanzanian government, academia and other NGOs to develop a comprehensive chimpanzee conservation plan.
