Partnerships: Bushmeat Crisis Task Force (BCTF)

In 1999 Dr. Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute were instrumental in establishing the Bushmeat Crisis Task Force (BCTF) in collaboration with 28 other non-governmental and government agencies in 1999. JGI has been a supporting member of the BCTF and has held a position on the BCTF’s Steering Committee since the association’s onset.

Dr. Goodall acts as a spokesperson for the bushmeat crisis and the BCTF at major informational events on Capitol Hill as well as throughout the world on her lecture tours. In March 2000, Christina Ellis became JGI’s Steering Committee representative to the BCTF.

To BCTF, JGI brings 43 years of wildlife research in Tanzania, and nine years of conservation and sustainable development program experience throughout Africa. Both Christina Ellis and Dr. Goodall will continue to coordinate conservation, education, and public awareness efforts with BCTF.
