Gombe Stream Research Center
The GSRC was created to coordinate the pioneering research conducted by Jane Goodall on wild chimpanzee populations in Gombe National park. The GSRC is located on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania.

Objectives:

TACARE
In 1994, the Jane Goodall Institute designed a pilot project to address poverty and support sustainable livelihoods in villages around Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania, while arresting the rapid degradation of natural resources, especially in the remaining indigenous forest.

2006 Roundtable on Ecotourism in Tanzania

On September 21, 2006, the Jane Goodall Institute and the Woodrow Wilson Center hosted Tanzania's First Lady Salma Kikwete, along with an array of experts from the nonprofit, government and private sectors, to discuss "The Challenges of and Opportunities for Expanded Ecotourism Development in Tanzania" in Washington D.C.
