Projects:
JGI-Uganda has implemented snare removal initiatives
in three forest blocks which hold a large part of the
chimpanzee population in Uganda.
In 1999 JGI-Uganda and the Wildlife Conservation Society
(WCS) began a four-year program in collaboration with
the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and the Uganda Forest
Department (UFD) to evaluate the status of wild chimpanzee
populations throughout Uganda.
A chimpanzee habituation project is being conducted
through JGI-Uganda for future eco-tourism activities
within Kaniyo-Pabidi, the Budongo Forest Reserve.
In 2002, an Environmental Education program was initiated
through JGI-Uganda in the communities near Lake Victoria and Kibale
National Park.
