Gaia and Gremlin, Take Three
We're so happy to report that Gaia has given birth again and her infant is doing well. This is in stark contrast to the series of events that took place nearly a year ago, when her mother, Gremlin took newborn twins from her. Gremlin couldn't feed the twins and they did not survive this unusual transfer of care. Gremlin had also "adopted" Gaia's infant Godot, who survived for several months, but eventually weakened and died. This time, Gaia is caring for her infant herself...
Gaia was first seen with the newborn infant at 6pm on June 5th, when she joined the focal group after having not been seen for about 3 days. Gremlin wasn't seen with the group until midday the following day, when she showed some interest in the infant, but Gaia kept her distance from her mother and held the infant close. We continued to follow the G-family (Gremlin, Gaia and infant, Golden, Glitta, and Gimli) for the next 5 days, and were amazed and relieved to see that Gaia maintained care of her baby.
By Sunday evening we determined that the infant is a boy. We're not certain of his health and strength, but we are continuing to follow the events closely, and we are considering why, this time, they are unfolding so differently.
