Dr. Goodall's Message to Rangers All Around the World

Thursday, July 31, 2014 - 10:38am

The more I learn about the trafficking of ivory, rhino horn, tiger parts and live apes, the more shocked I become. And the more impressed because of the courage and dedication of the rangers who, every day, risk their lives to protect these and other animals from poachers. It is a tough life, and most rangers are not well paid — some, indeed are paid but seldom. Yet they continue fighting the battle on the front line doing all they can to protect the animals they respect and, often, love.

On this, World Ranger Day, I salute you. All of you. And send a huge thank you from all of us who care about wild animals around the world. Without you, many animals might well have become extinct in country after country.
Thank you and bless you.
