Happy Birthday Jane! Wanted to tell you that having grown up in the inner city of Chicago, I had very few female role models. Now that I am a mother of one beautiful daughter and grand mother to 2 amazing grand daughters, YOU and your life's journey and accomplishment holds up a shining example of what we women can do when we focus our time, love, energy and compassion on the most important matter: The Earth. Thank you so much for setting such an amazing example, showing all of us women that we have minds and hearts of our own and we need not follow in the footsteps of man. God Bless you Jane!

Thank you Universe for this amazing woman! Mya God bless you as you have been a blessing to so many and may you continue to Live, Love and Learn and leave your imprint on hearts wherever you go. Yes, you have inspired me more than you will ever know Jane. I have known about you for many years however it is my daughter Kayla ( 15) who has made you a living icon in our home. Many say that she is the next Jane Goodall and she at first could not comprehend what a priviledge this was. She has come to know more and now her dream is to meet you one day. She has Aspergers and social skills have never been easy however somehow there is no divide when she is with animals. She is at one with them and her dream is to make a difference in this workd for the Voiceless like you have done. By the Grace of God your next trip to Africa ( we are in SA) but she has dreams of meeting you. Jane you live your truth, you speak your truth and you speak and do for those that can never repay you.... you are an earth angel indeed.

My mother's birthday was April 6th. It is because of people like my mother and Dr. Goodall that my passion for all animals exist. The thing that amazes me most about Dr. Goodall is that with all the human caused horror she has seen, she still has hope.

In March 2012 I had the privilege to hear you speak at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. My husband and two oldest children (ages 6 and 8) also attended. Growing up you, Sally Ride and Dian Fossey were an inspiration to me as I dreamed of all the things I could be when I grew up. I wanted very much to be a Primatologist and it seemed an obtainable dream thanks to the trailblazing of you and Dian Fossey. I eventually became a Registered Nurse, a wife and mother, but I still thank you for showing me that I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to because some great women before me had done it! We took our boys to hear you speak so hopefully they will be inspired to follow their dreams too! (You captured their hearts when you greeted us all in chimp)! Dr.Jane, a very happy belated birthday! I love Roots&Shoots and I'm so thankful I get to be part of such a creative, passionate and dedicated youth leadership council. You have been my hero since I was a little girl, and you inspired me to find my own passion. This led to Project ORANGS and a five year campaign to make Girl Scout Cookies rainforest safe. I am 58 and at the point in life where I (as well as my friends) am thinking about how to spend what we call in America "our retirement years". When I think of my "retirement years" my thoughts immediately go to you, Dr. Goodall. What a better way to spend those retirement years than to keep working! I read an article the other day that said you can choose what you want to be in your later years by becoming that person now. I can only hope that I can evolve into a person that is blessed to spend each day in such personal happiness as you do - a personal happiness that brings so much to others. I was very honored to meet you and spend some time with you when you presented a lecture sponsored by the Cincinnati Zoo and held at the University of Cincinnati Shoemaker Center. It was such a special time for me from hearing about your ideas to establish a Roots & Shoots program to your visit with the privately owned captive chimpanzee and telling assessment afterwards. Like so many others, you have been very inspirational in my life and I thank you for all of the extraordinary work you have done on behalf of chimpanzees, wildlife conservation, humanity, and environmental education. May you celebrate many more accomplishments and birthdays. You're the best!!

Personally, I will forever hold my wine glass by the stem as you taught us on your front porch in Gombe. Very, very dear, indispensable Jane Goodall, happy birthday to you. My wish for you is freedom and safety for your beloved friends, the chimpanzees. You inspire me everyday as I wrestle with the pain of being present to the suffering of non-human animals. When I want to look away because I cannot bear it anymore, I think of you. You have borne the pain, gone into the hell of research laboratories and other hellish places and worked to improve the circumstances of those condemned to them by human injustice and cruelty. You have fought to alleviate their suffering, while surely your heart has been breaking inside you. You give me courage and strength and hope. God bless you.

When I was eleven the first book i fell in love with was born free,I carried it with me all day and put it under my pillow at night.I dreamed of living and helping all these wonderful animals.When I first saw footage of Dr. Jane Goodall it was to me like watching everything i always dreamed.
