Hungry Mbebo
In the weeks prior to the release of Disneynature's newest True-Life Adventure, Chimpanzee, we wanted to give you a daily glimpse into the lives of some of the youngest residents at JGI's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
If you see Chimpanzee during the movie's opening week (April 20-26, 2012), Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to protect chimpanzees, including those residing at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.
Mbebo loves food; he asks for it all the time. Even when the caregivers take a break to eat their own breakfast, Mbebo uses gestures to ask them for a portion. The sympathetic caregivers occasionally share their fruit with him.
(JGI does not endorse handling or interfering with wild chimpanzees. The chimpanzees interacting with a caregiver depicted in this image are orphaned and have been living at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.)
