Life with Lemba

Each morning, Wounda receives a liter of milk. This is just one of several treatments she receives due to a recent illness. Young Lemba watches in anticipation until the caregivers produce a bottle for her. For Lemba, milk is a special treat, so the mornings are her favorite part of the day.

Wounda is a likable character who gets along with the chimpanzees and caregivers at Tchimpounga. While Wounda is recuperating, she spends her days with little Lemba and her friends Dunez and D'Joni. The three youngsters enjoy having another playmate around and Wunda enjoys her energetic companions.

This morning, after the veterinary staff massaged ointment into Wounda´s skin, Lemba wiped her hands down Wunda's back.  Lemba likes how the ointment feels on her hands and sniffs her palms, taking in the aroma.
