Mambou Loves Milk

Monday, April 16, 2012 - 2:35pm

In the weeks prior to the release of Disneynature's newest True-Life Adventure, Chimpanzee, we wanted to give you a daily glimpse into the lives of some of the youngest residents at JGI's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.

If you see Chimpanzee during the movie's opening week (April 20-26, 2012), Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to protect chimpanzees, including those residing at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.

Every day, Tchimpounga’s caregivers take the temperatures of each baby chimp.  Mambou dislikes the feeling of a thermometer under his armpit.  In order to distract Mambou while his temperature is being taken, he is given a bottle of hot milk by the JGI team.

(JGI does not endorse handling or interfering with wild chimpanzees.  The chimpanzees interacting with a caregiver depicted in this image are orphaned and have been living at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.)
