In the weeks prior to the release of Disneynature's newest True-Life Adventure, Chimpanzee, we wanted to give you a daily glimpse into the lives of some of the youngest residents at JGI's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
If you see Chimpanzee during the movie's opening week (April 20-26, 2012), Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to protect chimpanzees, including those residing at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.
Mbebo plays with the other sanctuary chimps, the caregivers, and even the sanctuary dog Lobo. Mbebo grabs Lobo’s tail hairs and strongly pulls them to provoke Lobo to play with him. The caregiver Godelin monitors Mbebo and Lobo to ensure that they play gently. Mbebo loves to run laps around Godelin while Lobo pursues him. Mbebo runs around and around without taking a break.
(JGI does not endorse handling or interfering with wild chimpanzees. The chimpanzees interacting with a caregiver depicted in this image are orphaned and have been living at the Tchimpounga sanctuary.)
