Update: November 26, 2012 - Here's the winning caption," For Heaven's sake, Prudence, put the camera down and come eat." In reality these are a group of chimpanzees enjoying eggplant for lunch at JGI's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
Dr. Goodall Promotes Global Education in Taiwan
During a recent stop in Taiwan, Dr. Goodall read to a young girl named Nadine. As she tours the world, Dr. Goodall constantly encourages young people to take action to improve this planet we call home. The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) knows this cannot happen without education based on the Institute's experience working with the world's children, particularly young women in Africa. In Tanzania, for example, JGI actively promotes girls' education because it has found that improving literacy rates among women improves the well-being of the communities in which they live.
Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future: UN International Day of Peace
Each year, as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, Dr. Goodall participates in the UN's observance of the International Day of Peace including a ceremonial ringing of the UN's Peace Bell and Student Conference. This year's theme, Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future was very fitting for Dr.
