Dario Merlo is the project coordinator for the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-centered conservation program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC-CCC). The DRC-CCC program is a holistic approach to conservation. By improving health care, providing reproductive health services, and supporting local people to develop sustainable and more efficient agricultural and livestock practices, the program aims to build communities’ capacity for conservation.
Today, Tuesday, October 25, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots team proudly launches the 2011-2012 Global Youth Campaign, One Million Hours of Service.

For the past two decades, Dr. Jane Goodall and JGI have supported the efforts of young people across the globe who are making this world a better place for people, animals and the environment through Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, JGI’s international youth program.
On September 22, 2011, Jane gave the opening keynote address at the annual AARP convention in Los Angeles. An estimated 8,000 people attended the session! While backstage, Jane met actress and comedienne Carol Burnett.
