World Health Day: JGI and Communities

Today, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) joins the World Health Organization (WHO) and other organizations and individuals around the globe in commemorating World Health Day.

JGI is committed to supporting a broad array of measures that ensure the health of local communities in areas where we work to protect chimpanzees and their habitat. By improving the health of these rural populations, we can significantly enhance their quality of life and enable them to become partners in conserving the natural resources on which they depend.

Dr. Goodall Honored with’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Early this week, we received word that Dr. Goodall was selected as’s recipient of the 2011 Heart of Green Award for Lifetime Achievement! The 2011 Heart of Green Awards honor the people, places and companies that take green to “heart,” furthering the cause of bringing “real green to real people.”

Jane Goodall and her 50-year data archive come to Duke University

World-renowned primatologist and conservationist Jane Goodall, Ph.D., DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, is visiting Duke University today. While on the Durham, N.C., campus, she will formally announce the relocation of the Gombe data archive to Duke.

JGI Commemorates Genevieve di San Faustino, Founding President

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is saddened to announce the passing of its founding president, Genevieve di San Faustino. A champion for the environment, the fine arts and those less fortunate, Genie, as she was known to friends, passed away at her home in San Francisco, California, on Friday, March 11, 2011. She was 91.

JGI Celebrates World Water Day

Water is one of the world’s most important natural resources. As such, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is providing local people access to clean water by renovating contaminated water supplies, constructing wells, protecting natural springs, improving sanitation, and preserving valuable forest watersheds.
