Mandrills: Releasing Some of Tchimpounga's Resident's Back in the Wild

Over the last several years, the team at the Jane Goodall Institute’s (JGI) Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center (TCRC) has taken great care to systematically search the wilds of the Republic of Congo (Congo) to locate the ideal habitat to safely release select TCRC primates. 
 
After conducting and assessing surveys in several locations in western Congo, the JGI team decided to do a more focused survey in the northern portion of Conkouati- Douli National Park.

2013 U.S. Fall Lecture Tour: Jane Visits the West Coast

This October, after a short stop in Toronto, Canada, Jane made her way to the San Francisco Bay Area for a number of inspiring events. Her visit began with a lecture to staff at Clif Bar & Company about sustainable food practices and the importance of conservation. Prior to her remarks, Jane met with the company’s founders, Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford, and Kevin Cleary, the company’s chief executive officer, for a tour of the Clif Bar facility.

Jane Asks Congressional Leadership to Fix CHIMP Act

In June 2013, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced its intention to retire all but 50 of the hundreds of research chimpanzees in its care.  The process of moving the chimpanzees has already begun, but an out-of-date provision in the law is threatening to send them back to the labs.  Yesterday, Dr. Goodall wrote to the leadership of the U.S.

2013 U.S. Fall Lecture Tour: Jane's visit to East Carolina University

It’s certainly been an exciting fall for Jane! After receiving an honorary degree at University of St Andrews in Scotland, she headed to New York City to take part in the UN International Day of Peace, the International Women’s Earth and Climate Initiative Summit, and the Humane Education Conference.
