Jane in Copenhagen, Emphasizes Communities' Importance
At the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Jane Goodall will present a JGI pilot project using Google technology that enables Ugandan and Tanzanian communities to provide forest monitoring data – a critical component of forest protection efforts intended to help address climate change.
Jane will appear at a number of events in Copenhagen during which she will stress that local communities must be an integral part of carbon release abatement efforts focused on protecting tropical forests. Destruction of tropical forests is a major contributor to global warming.
