The Roots & Shoots (R&S) Summit is one of the largest youth environmental events in China, bringing together 1,000 students, teachers, parents, and representatives from partner organizations and sponsors. This year we are going to celebrate 20 years of Roots & Shoots environmental education in China.
Jointly organized by the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Program and Beijing City International School (BCIS), this event recognizes the value of environmental education as a crucial ingredient in setting China and the world on a path toward environmental sustainability. This event is by invitation only.

International student groups from across Beijing will meet at the annual International School Summit. The students from the different schools will present to Dr. Jane Goodall and their peers about what impacts their projects are having in the community. A panel made up of Roots & Shoots students and Dr.

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a pioneer in the field of great ape conservation. Our projects span the Congo Basin and address four key areas of conservation; protecting great apes from the illegal wildlife and bushmeat trade, improving the economic and physical health of communities, ensuring healthy habitats, promoting sustainable livelihoods,environmental education and applying cutting edge and appropriate technologies to enhance our efforts.

In her speech, Sowing the Seeds of Hope, Dr. Goodall, will bring her audience into the world of the Gombe chimpanzees―from her early observations and experiences to the latest news and stories from the field.
