Tarzana, CA – Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, will be the guest of honor at the Tarzan Centennial Celebration on the evening of Saturday, August 18, 2012. The celebration is part of a three-day Burroughs Bibliophiles Convention to be held August 16-18, 2012, at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills, Calif.

Each year along the shores of the Platte River, near Kearney, Nebraska, a phenomenal natural event takes place—the spring migration of the whooping and sandhill cranes. Though the great migrations of the buffalo and passenger pigeon have become obsolete, there still exists, unknown to many, an opportunity to witness an equally spectacular occurrence in the crane migration.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2012, Dr. Jane Goodall submitted written testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Water and Wildlife. The subcommittee held a hearing on several bills, including S.810, the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act of 2011 which calls for ending invasive medical testing on all captive chimpanzees in the U.S.
In her testimony, Dr. Goodall urged support for ending invasive medical research on chimpanzees, as called for in the bill.
