Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots
Through Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is dedicated to cultivating a generation of global citizens. To maintain and build the Roots & Shoots network and our educational programs on the ground, we rely upon the help and support of our members, individual donors, corporations, foundations and other organizations. The ways that we can work together are diverse.
Jane received a very special picture from a member of Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program recently.
The young artist, Isabella from Florida, had this to say about her drawing:
This past October, as part of Jane's autumn 2009 United States lecture tour, she visited the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the Jane Goodall Research Center on campus.
Shortly before Thanksgiving, Jane was in Spain for several days to promote the work of the Jane Goodall Institute - Spain and Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program. In between speeches and events, Jane made time to visit the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Seville (named after the Spanish-Peruvian politician) to receive an honorary degree.
After Seattle, it was on to Portland, where Jane spoke at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) conference. Jane spoke about the educational role of zoos and how Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, an international youth service program, is a natural fit for zoos interested in expanding their youth outreach.
