About Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is the youth-led community action and learning program of the Jane Goodall Institute. The program builds on the legacy and vision of Dr. Jane Goodall to place the power and responsibility for creating community-based solutions to big challenges in the hands of the young people.  Through the program, young people map their community to identify specific challenges their neighborhoods face.

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Education Project in Colorado

Over the last six months, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) has made a huge splash throughout the state of Colorado by empowering educators to get involved in Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots and helping them implement service-learning campaigns in their classrooms.

Support Roots & Shoots

Through Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is dedicated to cultivating a generation of global citizens. To maintain and build the Roots & Shoots network and our educational programs on the ground, we rely upon the help and support of our members, individual donors, corporations, foundations and other organizations. The ways that we can work together are diverse.

One Million Hours of Service

Through their service learning campaigns, Roots & Shoots members are working to hit a goal of reaching one million hours of service donated to their communities. Every hour counts.
