Dr. Brian Hare, an associate professor of evolutionary anthropology at Duke University and a member of the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience there, is a longtime friend of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI). Most recently, Dr. Hare conducted chimpanzee behavioral research at JGI’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.

Like Jane, Dr. Hare loves dogs.  So, it’s not surprising that his academic interests extend beyond hominoids to the psychology of dogs.  He founded the Duke Canine Cognition Center and authored "The Genius of Dogs," a New York Times bestseller, and he currently conducts cognitive studies with dogs through a citizen science program of his company, Dognition.

Through September 30, Dr. Hare has generously offered a $20 discount for a Dognition membership to individuals who make a donation to JGI.   With this membership, you will participate in the citizen science program and, in the process, gain a better understanding of your dog.
