On April 8, 2011, Dr. Goodall will receive the Distinguished Humanitarian Award, along with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, during the Liberty Science Center’s Citizen Science Gala event in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
- 6:00 p.m. – Cocktail Reception - Music performed by Ursa Major of STARS@Merck
- 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 pm – Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees in the IMAX Dome Theater
- 8:00 p.m. – Program, Black Tie Dinner and Dancing
2010 marked a monumental milestone for the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) and our founder. Fifty years ago last July, Dr. Goodall, who is today a world-renowned primatologist, conservationist and UN Messenger of Peace, first set foot on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, in what is now Tanzania’s Gombe National Park. The chimpanzee behavioral research she pioneered there has produced a wealth of scientific discovery, and her vision has expanded into a global mission to empower people to make a difference for all living things.
Please note that ticketing for this event is handled directly by the Liberty Science Center and not JGI.
