Shanghai: Dr. Goodall’s Gombe 50 Tour of Asia

Dr. Goodall will commemorate Gombe 50, the Jane Goodall Institute’s year-long global celebration of her 50th anniversary of pioneering chimpanzee research and inspiring vision for our future, with a month-long tour of Asia throughout September.

On September 23-27, Dr. Goodall will visit Shanghai, China, for a number of events in support of Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots. Highlights of her itinerary include:

September 24: Dr. Goodall will visit the Roots & Shoots Shanghai office and meet with staff members and volunteers and have a luncheon on “M on the Bund.” In the afternoon, she will host a Roots & Shoots festival at a city high school and meet with teachers.

September 25: Dr. Goodall will speak at Expo 2010 Shanghai. Themed “Better City – Better Life,” the Expo is predicted to attract more than 51 million attendees and feature representatives from 190 countries.

September 26: In the morning, Dr. Goodall will spend time with international school teachers. She will host a press conference and a gala dinner in the evening.
