The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is seeking a major gifts officer responsible for raising funds to support JGI's community centered conservation programs in Africa and its global youth leadership program. The officer is an important member of the development team and reports to the senior director of development. S/he will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward existing individual donors and major prospects for JGI. The officer will also research, identify, develop, and respond to institutional donors and actively participate in the retention and stewardship of existing partners. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience successfully fundraising for a regional, national, or international organization with responsibilities for individual, corporate, or foundation solicitations. She/he must be a self-starter, highly motivated and results-oriented professional ready to hit the ground running.
The Executive Director is a full time position assigned to the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The JGI DRC office is located in Goma and currently consists of 15 employees. The Executive Director will supervise this full-time staff, implement the Institute’s strategy in the DRC, and provide oversight of financial, technical, and administrative systems and processes to achieve our desired results across the portfolio. This portfolio includes but is not limited to landscape scale ecosystem conservation, chimpanzee conservation, community-centered conservation, and environmental education. The Executive Director will report directly to the Vice President of Africa Programs, JGI United States of America (USA).
The Project Officer is a full time position located in the JGI office in Goma, DRC. The office is located in Goma center and consists of 15 employees . The DRC team consists of a program team who spend 50% of their time working away from the office in field sites or representing the program nationally and internationally, and a finance and administrative team who support program activities. The Project Officer will join the team in the DRC, and focus on coordinating the implementation of the Great Apes Conservation Action Plan for eastern DRC, as well as supporting the management of ongoing grants. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for managing all reporting requirements under at least three grants. The candidate will also play an important role in tracking results under these projects and uploading them into JGI's monitoring and evaluation data base. Field visits to South Kivu and Maniema provinces are anticipated in order to monitor project progress, verify project data and meet with the partners.
Full-time and part-time internships are available with JGI in our USA headquarters office in Vienna, VA (Washington-Metro area) and on occasion elsewhere around the United States for specific projects. More here.
