July 14 Anniversary Makes Headlines Around the World

The 50th anniversary of Jane’s arrival in Gombe on July 14, 2010, made headlines around the world.  Global coverage included CNN International, BBC and Voice of America, while stateside stories appeared everywhere from The Washington Post and the Associated Press This Day in History feature to CNN and People magazine.  An opinion piece authored in the journal Nature by Jane and Lilian Pintea, the Institute’s vice president of conservation science, garnered mention in media outlets from Germany to Brazil.  Most recently, The Wall Street Journal devoted a significant portion of its weekend section to an essay penned by Jane.  To supplement the print coverage, Journal staff created an online timeline and photo gallery.  For an overview of some of the top Gombe 50 coverage to date, check out our Gombe 50 section.  And there’s more coming in the months ahead!
