The Jane Goodall Institute Annual Report 2011
look in the code view!!!
Letter from Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE - Founder

Dear Members and Friends of the Jane Goodall Institute,
What a year it has been!
Over the past 365 days, our work has had an enormous impact literally all over the globe, reaching an unprecedented number of people and helping to advance the Jane Goodall Institute’s (JGI) efforts in the areas of chimpanzee protection, community-centered conservation in Africa, and youth empowerment.
I have been on a perpetual whirlwind tour, traveling all over the world—Africa , North and South America, Europe and Asia—raising awareness and funds for our projects, and giving hope. It has not been easy in the economic climate of the time. But despite the challenges, we have a lot to celebrate.
A Letter from the Jane Goodall Institute’s Chief Executive Officer
As the 2011 fiscal year comes to a close, I want to thank everyone who supported the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) over the past year. Our work in Africa and around the world would not be possible without your generous contributions and continued patronage.
While the threats facing chimpanzees in the wild continue to grow, we must forge ahead with even greater determination. Our mission to protect chimpanzees and their habitat not only helps save this magnificent species from extinction but also benefits us all. Every day, JGI’s programs in Africa are making an important contribution to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gases. They are also supporting improved economic and social stability in areas of the world that are often susceptible to poverty and conflict. And Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, JGI’s global environmental and humanitarian youth program, is not only investing in the future of the next generation of leaders but is also fostering global understanding that cuts across religious, cultural and regional barriers.
In light of the current economic climate, it is more critical than ever that we manage our resources efficiently and effectively. As we begin 2012, we remain committed to delivering the maximum value to our donors, our partners, and the programs we operate.
