These two exclusive, eco-friendly events were held to recognize the award recipients, celebrate the Institute's 30th anniversary, and directly benefit JGI's programs in primate research, conservation and development and youth education and leadership.

Ed Begley, Jr., star of stage and screen and leading Hollywood environmental activist, was the emcee for the Los Angeles event on Friday, Sept. 28, at the California Science Center's Wallis Annenberg Building.

Jeff Corwin, wildlife biologist and Emmy Award-winning television host, was the emcee at the Washington, DC event on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium. Animal Planet audiences best know Jeff from “The Jeff Corwin Experience,” and “Corwin’s Quest,” two popular shows on cable television.

Both events provided lovely settings with the ambiance enhanced by environmentally friendly decorations and traditional African music. Guests enjoyed vegetarian and organic cuisine and a live auction to support the efforts of the Institute. Items varied from unique artwork to a trip to Africa.

The galas served to not only celebrate the past efforts of those who have contributed to the Jane Goodall Institute, but also to support the endeavors of the organization in the years to come.
